Vision and dream

Vision und Traum

In the world of visions and dreams, we see in our sleep what we can’t explain and know nothing about. In the beginning, we must know and differentiate between what we see in a dream and how we can classify it.

What the person sees in his sleep is three types: self-talk a dream that comes from Satan, and a dream that comes from the Most Merciful.

Vision and dream

The dream is different from the vision, as the vision is the dream of the sleeping person watching something loved, and it is from Allah Almighty, it may intend as good tidings, or warning of evil, or help and guidance, and it is Sunnah to praise Allah Almighty for it and to tell about it to loved ones and not others. And the dream is what the sleeper sees of something bad, and it is from Satan, and it is Sunnah to seek refuge with Allah from him and to spit to his left three times, and not to speak of it, for whoever does that does not harm him, as it is desirable to turn from his side, and to pray two rak’ahs.

But it may be that what the sleeper sees is neither a vision nor a dream, but rather it is the talk of the soul, it is called: pipe dreams, and it is about events and fears in the memory and the subconscious mind, reconstructing them again during sleep, so it is not necessary to pay attention to it, except for the sake of self-knowledge.

The difference between a vision and dream

Al-Bukhari narrated in his Sahih on the authority of Abu Saeed Al-Khudri that he heard the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grants him peace, say: “If one of you sees a dream that he loves, it is from Allah, so let him praise Allah for it and talk about it.” Other than that which he dislikes, it is from Satan, so let him seek refuge from its evil, and do not mention it to anyone, for it will not harm him.”

On the authority of Abu Qatada, he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say: “A dream is from Allah, and a dream is from Satan. If one of you sees something that he dislikes, let him blow to his left three times. And seek refuge in Allah from its evil. It will not harm him.” Abu Qatada said: If I were to see the vision is heavier than a mountain. It is only that I heard this hadith, I do not care. Narrated by Muslim in his Saheeh.

And in the narration of Al-Bukhari: “The dream is from Allah, and the dream is from Satan, so if one of you dreams of a dream that he hates, let him spit to his left, and seek Allah’s protection from it, for it will not harm him.”

Dream in Muwatta Imam Malik

And in the Muwatta of Imam Malik, according to the narration of Imam Muhammad bin Al-Hassan: {In his saying, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him: A good dream is from Allah, and a dream is from Satan, in it, there is a statement that not everything that a person sees in his dream is true, but what is true in it is what was from Allah that brings you an angel.

The dream is from the copy of Umm al-Kitab, and everything else is a pipe dream that has no interpretation, and it is of different types: it may be the work of Satan playing with a person or showing him what grieves him, and the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, commanded in that to spit to his left, and seek refuge in Allah from it as if he intended He is expelled out of disgrace, and it may be from self-talk like someone who is in a matter or a craft sees himself in that matter, and the lover sees his lover, and this may be from the mood of nature like one who is overcome by blood sees phlebitis, nosebleed, and redness.

And whoever is overcome with yellow sees fire and yellow things, and whoever is overcome On him blackness sees darkness and black things, horrors, and death, and whoever is overcome by phlegm sees whiteness, water, and snow, and there is no interpretation of these things.

The most prominent differences between visions and dreams

Among the most prominent differences between visions and dreams are the following: One of the most prominent signs of a true vision of the seer is the speed of his attention when he sees it until he has a realization that it is a vision as if he is paying attention until he returns to the sense through vigilance, even if he is absorbed in sleep, because of the weight of what was thrown It is through the vision and the perception.

As for a dream, it is an expression of what any sleeping person sees or disliked things, and they are originally from Satan intending to distract and frighten him, and from the Sunnah to seek refuge from those dreams if a Muslim sees them after spitting to his left three times if he wakes up from his sleep in fear because of them, and he should not narrate about them. Someone so that you do not harm him, as it is Sunnah for him to turn from the side on which he was on, and if he can pray two units of prayer, that is better for him.

And if you wake up but you don’t know what you saw in your dream is it a dream or a vision!!

To know what you saw, you must first know the conditions of a true vision:

Truthfulness: The truthfulness of a person is one of the reasons for a true dream, as he ﷺ said, “At the end of time, the dreams of a believer will hardly be a lie. Al-Qadri says that if the seer is truthful and hates lies from others, then his dreams are true, and vice versa.

-Sleeping in a state of purity: The scholars of the expression of dreams have agreed that purity is one of the conditions of a true and righteous dream.
-Sleeping on the right side: This is what Ibn Sirin and Imam al-Sadiq agreed upon, that sleeping on the right side is more correct for the dreamer to see the true dream, and sleeping on the back, left side, or stomach brings false visions and vivid dreams.
-Reciting from the Noble Qur’an before going to sleep: Imam al-Sadiq said that reciting Surat Al-Muzammil and Surat Al-Qadr is one of the reasons for seeing the Messenger, peace be upon him, in a dream, and carries good tidings to the seer, as well as reciting Al-Ma’widhatayn, the shortest of the surahs, and Surat Al-Kahf, from the causes of true dreams, while some scholars have gone on to say that reading what is easy. From the Noble.

Other conditions of a true vision

-Qur’an with humility is one of the reasons for a true vision, so the believer does not prefer some of the Qur’an over others, and Allah knows best.
-Seeking refuge, glorification, and seeking forgiveness: all of these are well-known etiquettes of sleep, and they are also among the causes of true dreams.
-The prayer of the truthful dream: When Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, used to go to sleep, she said: “O Allah, I ask you for a vision that is true, not false, beneficial and not harmful.”

Al-Qadri mentioned in the third article of the book “Explanation of the Vision” a supplication that is desirable for the true vision: “O Allah, I seek refuge in you from bad dreams, and I seek refuge in you from the manipulation of Satan and Satan.”

The truthful vision from Allah: It is worth noting that the true vision is from Allah alone, He chooses how and when He sends it to His servant, and it is not correct to say that there is a guarantor way to see the true and righteous vision.

When is the vision time?

A Muslim may see a good dream at night, just as he is likely to see it during the day. The lesson is a good vision is the characteristics that distinguish it from others, and the lesson is not in the time in which it is seen, and the scholar Ibn Sirin referred to this topic when he said the vision of the day is like the vision of the night, indicating The Prophet, peace, and blessings be upon him, was proven to have seen a true dream during his nap in the house of Umm Haram bint Milhan, the wife of the companion Ubadah ibn al-Samit. And this only indicates that the night is the premonition of dreams and visions, as a person often sees dreams at night, and this does not mean that true dreams occur before or after the Morning Prayer.

The vision time

How do you know a good vision A good dream is known as a promising vision that brings joy to the soul of those who sees it, and it is a true vision that is achieved in reality, and it is from Allah Almighty’s honor for his righteous servants, as it was proven from the Prophet, peace, and blessings be upon him, that it is considered one of the forty-six parts of prophecy. A Muslim is truthful in his speech, the more true his vision is, and the good dream differs from the dreams that a person sees in his sleep, and they are merely pipe dreams.

The etiquette of a good dream is one of the etiquettes that a Muslim should follow if he sees a good dream in a dream, to hurry to praise Allah and thank him for that true vision, and to be glad for that dream and what the Muslim will gain from it, and to tell the Muslim who loves this dream without the people he hates.
